The Friday poem: ‘The Universe’, by Mira Karunanidhi

New verse by Wellington writer and college student, Mira Karunanidhi.

The Universe

we once had a conversation

about the universe

and i told you

i like to think

that space is infinite

that it has no beginning

middle

or end

but like most things

it has to end somewhere

in the same way

i like to think

that our love is infinite too

it has no beginning

middle

or end

but like most things

it had to end somewhere.

Mira’s poem was judged runner-up at the 2016 National Schools Poetry Award, run by the International Institute of Modern Letters at Victoria University.
