The NZ Herald announced this morning that Cliff Curtis has been cast in the lead role of The Walking Dead’s new unnamed spin-off series. The show will be set vaguely within The Walking Dead universe, but will follow another group of survivors in a different location and time. Cliff will play the character of Sean Cabrera, “a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life.” Watch out zombies – there’s a dark horse coming.

30 Rock Calls Out Cosby
There have been murmurs on the internet that 30 Rock may have called out Bill Cosby’s sexual assault allegations in their 2009 episode “The Bubble”. In one scene, Tracy believes he is talking on the phone to Bill Cosby (it’s actually an impersonator called Rick), and has a seemingly random outburst at him. Tracy yells theatrically, “Bill Cosby, you got a lotta nerve gettin’ on the phone wit’ me after what you did to my Aunt Paulette … 1971 Cincinnati. She was a cocktail waitress with the droopy eye!” Watch the clip here, and see if you think it’s slightly more than a throwaway joke.

Fey’s NBC Show to Netflix
This week, U.S. Netflix snagged the The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt from NBC. The sitcom, produced by Tina Fey, stars Ellie Kemper (Erin from The Office) as a woman who escapes from a doomsday cult to start a new life in New York City. NBC was concerned there was no “complimentary show” for it to air with, so passed it off the Netflix in a last-minute decision. There is no word on whether The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will be available on Netflix New Zealand.

Earlier this week, there was a smattering of The X Factor controversy at the recorded TV auditions. First of all, audience member Brad Fisher said that he spotted a man making hand gestures at the judges during performances, suggesting that the competition was rigged. He made his thoughts heard in this video, which is sitting now at 35,000+ views. Secondly, everyone’s favourite nobody Natalia Kills swore violently at the audience in final round of auditions. Risqué, next thing you know her husband will be bloody mooning somebody!
