Matariki Bennett (Te Arawa, Ngāti Pikiao, Ngāti Whakaue) is a graduate of South Seas Film School and is a writer, director and spoken word poet. She is a founding member of Ngā Hine Pūkōrero, 2021 recipients of the Creative New Zealand Ngā Manu Pirere Award, recognising outstanding emerging Māori artists. Michael Bennett (Te Arawa) is a screenwriter, director and author. He is the 2020 recipient of the Te Aupounamu Māori Screen Excellence Award and has a long history of mentoring and teaching emerging filmmakers.
