Vera Ellen

Vera Ellen is a contributing writer for The Spinoff. She grew up in Wellington heavily involved in the local music scene. A passionate songwriter, she moved to Los Angeles and co-founded the bands Sweater and Girl Friday. Vera is now a solo artist with Flying Nun. She won Best Alternative Artist at the 2022 Aotearoa Music Awards and earned the Taite Music Prize in 2024.
