7 Days: Dreads, Doobs and Dolphin Flags With Green Party Leader James Shaw

minister 2

James Shaw is not just the co-leader of The Green Party, but the star of ‘Yes Minister’ in tonight’s episode of 7 Days. Here’s a quick Q&A with the panel, including a new dreadlocks policy.

Jeremy Corbett: You defeated Kevin Hague for the co-leadership of the Greens. Is that the first time you’ve beaten off another man?
James: Are you kidding? I had to beat off a whole bunch of people just to get into Parliament.

Ben Hurley: As you are a member of the Green Party, did you lose your virginity in the back seat of a bicycle?
James: It was a unicycle.

Dai Henwood: Do you refer to yourselves as the Kakariki Party during Māori language week?
James: We do, Te Roopu Kakariki

Paul Ego: Is it true the Government wants our new flag to be made entirely from Maui’s Dolphins?
James: I’m sure they are dying to, but 55 dolphin skins aren’t going to get them many flags.

Bryce Casey: Does the Green Party use Twitter much and if so what is your favourite type of Hash.. tag?
James: #PartyVoteGreen

James Roque: Is it a requirement for all Green Party leaders to have had dreadlocks in the past?
James: We got rid of that rule recently. We replaced it with a requirement for them to have dreadlocks now. Watch this space.

Jeremy Elwood: Dear James. How is your other job as Eric Bana’s body double going now that you’re busy in Wellington?
James: After a couple of months in this job I’m starting to think I may need Eric as my body double.
