Five things you need to know about the Candle Wasters. Or, Why you should give a Puck

A group of young Wellingtonians have scored millions of online views for their idiosyncratic Shakespearean revamps. With the launch of their third series, Bright Summer Night, we asked them to explain themselves, and they sent us a video.

The first two web series by the Candle Wasters put a girdle around the earth in hardly any time at all, collecting more than 4.5 million views on YouTube. Having had their way with Much Ado About Nothing and Love’s Labour’s Lost, the Wellington group have now ripped into A Midsummer Night’s Dream, reimagined as a teenagers’ house party as Bright Summer Night.

Below, a trailer for the new series. But first, a selection of Candle Waster senior executives, Minnie Grace, Claris Jacobs, Sally Bollinger and Elsie Bollinger, together with White Man Not For the Moment Behind a Desk Robbie Nicol, serve up, by way of introduction, some essential Candle Waster facts.
