Behrouz Boochani
Behrouz Boochani is a Kurdish-Iranian writer, journalist, scholar, cultural advocate, filmmaker and human rights defender. He spent six years in detention at Australia's Manus Island detention centre in Papua New Guinea, from 2013 until its closure in 2017. His memoir, No Friend But the Mountains: Writing from Manus Prison, won the 2019 Victorian Premier's Prize for Literature and for Nonfiction.
