Matthew Cunningham is a public servant, author and professional historian with a diverse publication history. His most recent book, Histories of Hate: The Radical Right in Aotearoa New Zealand, is scheduled to be released by OUP Press in late 2022. Matthew is also an award-winning children’s author. His first book, Abigail and the birth of the Sun, won the NZCYA Best Picture Books Award 2020 and was shortlisted for the NZ Booklovers Best Children’s Book Award 2020.
