Horiana Henderson (Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Ruanui) has lived in Hamilton East for over 30 years. She is studying journalism at WINTEC, is a mother of three, and ran as an independent Hamilton City Council candidate for Hamilton East in the 2018 by-election.
