QUIZ: How well do you know your porn?

pwquiz.jpeg

It’s Friday afternoon which means time for our weekly quiz, but this time we are doing things a little differently. All week we have been examining the world of pornography and our relationship with it, and what better way to reflect on how much we’ve learned so far with an exciting (and safe for work) quiz?

Watch: What’s the deal with OnlyFans in Aotearoa?

It’s the biggest thing to happen to porn in the last five years, but how many people are using OnlyFans in Aotearoa? In the fifth episode of Chris & Eli’s Porn Revolution, the pair meet Auckland entrepreneur Jasminx, who has 1.6 million followers on TikTok and 250,000 on Reddit, to talk about her love-hate relationship with the platform that changed her life. They then have a wine with Damian Epro to discuss the ins-and-outs of OnlyFans collaborations, and how Twitter is not just for politics. Finally, they meet couple Niamh (Tainui, Ngāti Ranginui) and Dom, who enjoy making content together on the platform but have still encountered setbacks in getting banned from social media channels.

Your weekend sports timetable

Rugby League World Cup semifinal (New Zealand vs Australia) Saturday, 8.45am – Spark Sport

Watching any New Zealand-based team play rugby league is exhausting. The Kiwis semi against Australia will be no different. At least it’s at a reasonable time.

Rugby World Cup final (Black Ferns vs England), Saturday, 7.30pm – Spark Sport/Three

This is the big one. And, despite plenty of organisational hiccups, it really does feel as if the whole country is behind the Black Ferns, who are well and truly underdogs in this match up.

The weather forecast is rain which means your local pub (and living room) will be heaving. Don’t miss it.

Rugby League World Cup semifinal (Sāmoa vs England) Sunday, 3.30am – Spark Sport

After the huge upset beating Tonga in the quarterfinal, Sāmoa faces England, the team that effectively smashed them in the early stages of the World Cup. Expect to see a lot of red and blue flags flying from cars tonight.

UFC 281 (Israel Adesanya vs Alex Pereira) Sunday, 4pm – Spark Sport/Sky Arena/UFC Fight Pass

Switch from a mildly violent sport to an extremely violent sport and catch Adesanya defending his middleweight MMA title.

All Blacks vs Scotland, Monday, 3.15am – Sky

Might be a lovely upset for Scotland against a struggling All Blacks side. If I’m being honest, probably not worth the cursed early rise to watch it live.

When the Facts Change: Nicola Willis is breaking with tradition

The National Party’s deputy leader has spoken out against Reserve Bank governor Adrian Orr, calling for an independent review if National is elected in 2023. Skyrocketing house prices and record-high inflation are being blamed on the government’s money printing scheme during the pandemic.

Willis says an external review would answer the question: how can this be avoided in the future? Willis speaks to Bernard Hickey on the latest episode of When the Facts Change.

The Bulletin: Epidemiologist ‘cautiously optimistic’ the worst of Covid is behind us

Sir David Skegg received the Blake Medal last night at a ceremony in Auckland. He was recognised for his contribution to the pandemic response, HIV/Aids, Mad Cow Disease and reproductive health in developing nations. He spoke to the Herald’s Jamie Morton this week saying he was “cautiously optimistic” that the worst of the coronavirus crisis was behind us but warned we should remain ready for some nasty twists.

“In future years, I believe New Zealanders will look back on our handling of this pandemic as one of our great national achievements,” Skegg told the Herald.

“This is not to suggest that everything was perfect – or even close to that.”

I’m not entirely sure when we’ll be perfectly ready for some reflection on the last couple of years, but I recommend Morton’s piece as a start for some lucid and forthright perspective from Skegg.
