There are 1,901 new cases of Covid-19 in the community today, a slight decrease on yesterday’s total of 1,929.
The epicentre of the outbreak remains in Auckland, where 1,240 new cases were recorded. There were 33 in Northland, 249 in Waikato, 66 in Bay of Plenty, 11 in Lakes, 22 in Hawke’s Bay, 12 in MidCentral, 10 in Whanganui, 10 in Taranaki, 12 in Tairāwhiti, 17 in Wairarapa, 38 in Capital Coast, 31 in Hutt Valley, 40 in Nelson Marlborough, 40 in Canterbury, two in South Canterbury, one on the West Coast and 65 in Southern. It’s unknown which DHB area two cases are in.
Yesterday, 30,642 tests were taken.
There are 76 people in hospital with Covid-19, none of whom are in intensive care. One is in Northland, seven in North Shore hospital, 25 in Middlemore, 36 in Auckland, one in Rotorua, three in Tauranga, two in Waikato and one in Tairāwhiti.
