In Australia, the attorney general has asked the privacy commissioner to urgently intervene due to the rising popularity of smart glasses. At the same time, Kmart’s Anko Camera Glasses have sold out nationwide.
Here in New Zealand, Kmart have confirmed to RNZ that the same glasses were available to buy in New Zealand.
Regarding privacy concerns with the glasses, a Kmart spokesperson told RNZ, “As with any device capable of recording images, we expect customers to use the product responsibly, respectfully and in accordance with applicable laws and community expectations around privacy.”
