The days are getting longer so here’s some new TV to binge

On the first day of Spring, we present to you all the content sprouting forth in September for you to enjoy on Lightbox.

Happy Valley (S2 available now)

The second season of the British chiller returns with Police Sergeant Catherine Cawood back on her murder beat. With a string of homicides hitting West Yorkshire, and a human trafficking ring to unravel, pop the kettle on and get among some gnarly small town scandal.

Collection Intervention (S1 arrives September 4)

Think Hoarders but without as many bottles of urine under the bed. With an episode called “Toy Hell”, this is a must-see for anyone who thinks one more collectable E.T. figurine in original packaging won’t hurt.

Boss Nails (S1 arrives September 4)

Welcome to Miami’s Tippie Toes salon, where the talons are being sharpened in more ways than one. Combine Tabitha’s Salon Takeover with Hell’s Kitchen and adorn it with the best manicure you’ve ever seen.

Loch Ness (S1 arrives September 6)

On the rocky shores of Loch Ness washes up a gruesome find even more baffling than Nessie herself. It’s murder, it’s monsters, it’s all a bloody mystery.

Outlander (S3 arrives express from September 11)

Fresh from the salon, Jamie Fraser’s luscious curls are back and Sassenach’s everywhere are as happy as tiny donkeys trotting through the Scottish countryside.

The Mindy Project (S6 arrives express from September 13)

Season six will be the final season of Mindy Lahiri’s brilliantly funny sitcom, and there’s never been a better time to whack on a dressing gown, ring up some Pad Thai and binge watch all of it in advance. Bring fondue and a sunny disposition.

Angelby (S1 arrives September 14)

The latest Scandi-Noir offering on Lightbox, Angelby is a Swedish crime mystery set in a disturbingly weird small town after a horrific accident. BYO woollen jumper.

The Real Vikings (arrives September 20)

History alert! Learning alert! Get to know the real stories behind the bloodied, ponytail mayhem of Vikings.

Spring Tide (S1 arrives September 21)

On the island of Nordkoster, a woman is buried in the sand and left to slowly drown as the tide creeps in. 25 years later, some trainees at the Police Academy reopen the cold case.

The Strain (S3 arrives September 27)

The master of the macabre Guillermo Del Toro is back with the third season of his pulpy, vampire-hunting fright fest.

AHS: Roanoke (S6 arrives September 28)

The sixth instalment of anthology series American Horror Story takes on the form of a fake paranormal documentary series. A couple tells the nightmare of living on the twisted island of Roanoke through re-enactments, in Ryan Murphy’s most meta move yet. Also: prepare for people to die.
