Test reveals global academic decline

The OECD has run the Programme for International Student Assessment nearly every three years since the year 2000, and this week they released the 2025 results.

In New Zealand, the tests were taken by 5000 15-year-olds across 133 schools. New Zealand students saw similar results in reading, science and maths in 2025 as they received in 2022. However, since 2009, there has been a significant drop in Pisa scores in all three subjects in New Zealand and across the OECD.
