Just some of the craziest Trump headlines out of the US midterms
Donald Trump wasn’t running in the US midterm elections – and yet he was pretty much all the media wanted to talk about.
The former US president is expected to announce his 2024 run next week. But after the midterm election results saw pretty much all Trump-aligned candidates fall short, it’s possible he may see some sense (this seems unlikely).
Here are some of the headlines from today:
- Donald Trump said the Trumpiest thing possible about the election (CNN): An analysis piece largely focusing on a classic Trump quote, with the ex-president telling NewsNation “I think if they win, I should get all of the credit, and if they lose, I should not be blamed at all.” In reality, they mainly all lost and we’re mainly all blaming Trump.
- Trump’s endorsement hurt Republicans in midterms – aside from JD Vance (The Guardian): Yup, pretty much just one Trump-endorsed candidate scored in the midterms, despite the supposed “red wave”.
- The winner of the midterms is not yet clear – but the loser is Donald Trump (The Guardian): As above.
- Donald Trump is blaming everyone but himself for the midterms. And yes, that includes Melania (Vanity Fair): There are numerous reports coming in about just how angry Trump is following the midterm results. That includes reports he has blamed his wife, former first lady Melania Trump, which seems pretty on brand. “Trump is livid” and ”screaming at everyone,” one advisor told media.
