The Friday poem: “My thoughts on the end of love and caravans this Friday” by Talia Marshall

Poetry for the soul
Poetry for the soul

New verse by Riwaka writer Talia Marshall.

My thoughts on the end of love and caravans this Friday

At first love is the caravan

and you are inside it

playing cards

and the gas lamp is burning

and everyone inside the caravan is happy

and unbearable

Then you only go to the caravan sometimes

Then you are outside the caravan

hiding

Then they pull the blinds down

and it gets even darker outside

not inside

that’s not possible

Now you know

deep down

where there is knowing nothing

you’ll never see those happy people

playing cards again
